Global Community Manager (Independent Contractor)

Global Community Manager (Independent Contractor)

Community Manager / Careers

We are looking for a community manager who can support AI creators across languages and cultures—and help build a global community where people connect, share their work, learn from one another, and discover new opportunities.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Build ongoing relationships with registered AI creators around the world
  • Welcome and onboard new members, review profiles, and help them navigate the community
  • Learn about each creator’s expertise, work, goals, availability, and preferred opportunities
  • Share relevant opportunities, including projects, events, editorial features, and collaborations
  • Manage and moderate online community spaces and communication channels
  • Plan and run online meetups, learning sessions, showcases, networking programs, and other community initiatives
  • Create and publish community updates, emails, social posts, announcements, and guidance in English
  • Gather feedback through conversations, surveys, and participation data
  • Identify barriers to participation and improve the experience for members across cultures, regions, and time zones
  • Develop and refine community guidelines, onboarding resources, and communication workflows
  • Coordinate closely with business development, editorial, production, and operations teams

Your scope of responsibility will be determined in consultation with you, based on your experience, strengths, language skills, location, and availability.

Requirements

What You’ll Need

  • Native-level proficiency in at least one language, together with business-level English for meetings, facilitation, community support, and written communication
  • Professional experience in community management, customer success, communications, events, editorial work, creator relations, or a related field
  • The ability to listen closely, understand individual needs and goals, and respond with clarity and care
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to build relationships with people from different backgrounds
  • The ability to write clear, accurate, and engaging community communications in English
  • The ability to maintain consistent communication with multiple members and stakeholders
  • Confidence using video conferencing, chat, document collaboration, and other cloud-based tools
  • Sound judgment when handling confidential information, intellectual property, copyright, and personal data

Previous professional experience with generative AI is not required. We welcome people who are genuinely interested in AI creators and creative expression, and who are ready to learn what they need to support the community effectively.

Preferred Skills

What Would Be a Plus

  • Experience managing a global, multicultural, or multilingual community
  • Experience supporting communities of creators, artists, or specialist professionals
  • Experience moderating platforms such as Discord, Slack, or other online community spaces
  • Experience planning and facilitating meetups, workshops, showcases, exhibitions, or networking events
  • Experience creating or managing social media, newsletters, web content, or community editorial programs
  • Experience in customer success, user support, member success, or employer branding
  • Hands-on experience using generative AI for creative work, planning, or communications
  • Experience improving community programs through member feedback and participation data
  • Business-level Japanese or professional proficiency in additional languages

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll Thrive Here If You

  • Respect each creator’s work, expertise, identity, and professional goals
  • Listen carefully and connect people with the information, support, and opportunities they need
  • See community management as relationship-building, not simply administration
  • Notice quieter voices, participation barriers, and information gaps—not only visible engagement
  • Communicate with cultural awareness and adapt your approach without making assumptions
  • Enjoy making small, practical improvements that strengthen the community over time
  • Can research, think, and act independently in a fast-changing field
  • Collaborate openly and reliably with internal teams and external partners
